Palm Pre Touchstone Charging Dock

Avoid the hassle of tangled cords and charge your Palm Pre wirelessly with this Palm Touchstone Charging Dock. The first inductive charging solution for phones, the Touchstone Charging Dock allows you to set your Palm Pre on top of the dock without worrying about connection, orientation or fit. The device remains active while charging, allowing access to the touch screen, movies or video, or the speakerphone option.

This package includes just the Touchstone Charging Dock; to charge your device wirelessly, you also need the separately available Touchstone Back Cover for Palm Pre.

Just set your Pre with compatible Touchstone Back Cover on the Touchstone Charging Dock, and it magnetically snaps into place and begins charging. The magnets align your phone in the correct position for charging, whether in portrait or landscape mode--no cables or connectors required to attach your phone to the dock. And it charges in the same amount of time as wall charger that came with your Palm Pre.

The Charging Dock also offers a number of handy features in addition to keeping your battery topped up:

Place your phone on the Charging Dock when you're on a call and its speakerphone automatically turns on.
Pick your phone up from the Charging Dock while you're on speakerphone and the conversation is automatically routed back to the phone.
For incoming phone calls, simply pick up the phone from the Charging Dock and it answers automatically, without having to tap the screen.
When the phone is not in use, Nightstand mode displays the time and incoming notifications.

The Charging Dock also requires the International Power Charger that came with the Palm Pre to operate.

« Really handy for keeping phone charged and ready »

This review is based on the Palm Pre Plus which comes equipped with the compatible phone back - no kit needed.

When I first saw the Touchstone Charging Dock I wondered why anyone would buy it since the phone already comes with a wall charger. After reading some of the reviews I decided to give it a try, and it is really great to have.

Just plug the Touchstone in using the wall charger that came with the phone and set your phone on top. You can use your phone while it is on the base, easily pick it up and put it back down, and when the screen is off it shows the time so you can use it for a clock (I also have the Weather Dashboard Lite app installed, so I can see the weather condition and temperature too).

I'm thinking about buying another one to keep in the car to use with my car charger. It should work great since the Touchstone is somewhat heavy and has a tacky bottom that should stay put, and the phone is held securely on the base magnetically.

This particular product doesn't come with cable or with the Palm Pre back that aids in mounting the pre for charge or pc- sync.

« Palm Pre Plus includes inductive cover! »

Just wanted to let everyone know that if you own the "Palm Pre Plus", you do NOT need to purchase the inductive cover. According to the Palm website, the Pre Plus already includes this cover, so save yourself the $20, and just purchase the Touchstone charger.

The Touchstone charger is great, easy to use, and very convenient. You need to use it with your wall charging kit (it doesn't come with an AC cable).

Easy way to charge your phone. Not entirely "wireless", because you need to plug it into your wall to use it. But, it's easy to drop your phone on and it instantly starts charging. you can use your phone while its on there w/ no need to unlock or anything. I love it and its very handy. Uses your USB cord that ships w/ the phone.
