Product description

Designed for consumers, the zBoost dual band cell phone signal booster extends a zBoost Cell Zone for single or multiple users in homes or offices simulatneously.

Satisfy all your cellular phone needs with the Wireless Extenders YX510-PCS/CEL zBoost zP Wireless Booster, which works with both cellular frequencies (800 and 1900 MHz) and can extend cellular coverage up to 2500 square feet. This unit can handle signals from all the major cellular carriers, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Alltel. The package includes everything you need: amplifier base unit, power supply, base unit antenna, low-loss SATV coaxial cable (RG6), signal antenna and mounting hardware. The omni-directional signal antenna receives signals from multiple cell towers.

Improve your cell signal with the dual-band YX510-PCS/CEL--perfect for boosting the signal of AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon frequencies up to 2500 square feet.
Using a revolutionary, patent pending technology that protects the carrier network, the YX510 improves indoor cell phone coverage by capturing and repeating the outside signal, bringing it into the building and enhancing it. This process creates a "Cell Zone" in your home or office.

The Wireless Extenders zBoost system includes:

  • Outdoor antenna (repeats the signal) can be installed outdoors above the roofline or indoors in the attic or near a window
  • Coax cable (RG6- ultra low-loss, DBS satellite) connects from the outdoor antenna to the base unit
  • Base unit: Sleekly designed, it amplifies the signal and provides oscillation detection/correction which protects the carrier network using patent-pending technology.
  • Indoor antenna connects to the base unit to repeat the signal and create "Cell Zone"--no physical connection to the phone is needed.

Installation
Choosing the best location for installation of the Signal Antenna provides the best performance and the largest area of improved signal. Determine the location that provides the strongest signal using the signal strength indicator on your cell phone. For the best reception, find the location that provides the most bars of signal strength and locate the Signal Antenna at that location.

    « Totally works »
i was very skeptical about this product after reading some of the negative reviews. after trying a couple of different installations, this thing works awesome. my office is an old industrial building with a tin roof, att got barely 1 bar inside but full coverage outside. we initially tried installing the large antenna against the outer wall, with the repeater about 50ft away. this didn't work, the repeater's signal constantly interfered with the large antenna. then we installed the large antenna on the outside of the building, about 80 ft away. this was the trick, being on the outside, the signals never interfered and now we get full coverage inside the building.
    totally worth the money!

    « very irregular »
I tried this at our beach house for a week, on ATT, using an iPhone, windows candybar style phone with an antenna nub, and a dumbphone (plain featurephone). It didn't fix our issues (as a last resort, we've actually now switched to another carrier)

Some other reviewers aren't seeing the distinction between repeating signal from a strong location to a weak one, versus 'amplifying' an otherwise unacceptable signal. This device is only for 'moving' a strong signal (for me, on the roof) to another location (say inside the house where the signal is weak)

We are on a hill and at ground level had 'spotty' coverage inside and around the house. If you walked up the hill a little bit you could get more reliable coverage. At night coverage would actually sometimes be reliable, but during peak hours it was non existent (cell towers often prioritize stronger signals to minimize overall number of dropped calls).

This evidence led me to believe that at the ~roof level we should have several bars of signal. (I wasn't able to get up there and try it, though) Since we are on a hill, this made sense.

Nonetheless, it didn't seem to work well. It has three diagnostic lights that each have two or three colors. Them manual enumerates several pretty cryptic combinations that are supposed to tell you what's wrong.

Besides being unclear, the diagnostics would change very rapidly, say from 'antennas too close' to 'signal too strong' to 'signal too weak'.

As such, it never gave us a dependable signal, so I returned it.

« Did not work - had to return »
Extender did not work for ATT iPhone. Coverage weak in zip code 95050. This did not solve the problem.

    « YX-510 »
Great Product. I previously had no cell reception inside my house and only 2 bars outside at best, if I was standing in the right spot in the yard. I installed my antena on a twenty feet tall PVC poll outside and hooked up the unit inside. I now have full service inside my house (five bars). I am very satisfied with this booster. I have eliminated my land line.

    « works as advertised »
I have spotty cell coverage at my house and this unit with the antenna installed in the attic does improve the signal inside the house, especially if my phone is close to the base unit. Works for my verizon phone and tracfone.
